The Shadowlands: A huge area, that seems to have no set borders, but can be reached through various portals in time and space. It encompasses mooreland, forests, plains, hills, lakes, deserts, mountains and more. It's one unifying factor is that the sun never shines directly on any part of it. There is always mist, or a cloud covering, or some other reason that the sun is not striking it at any particular moment. However, plants and animals still grow strong, either having adapted to the strange conditions or through some sort of magic. The whole place is charged with an intense energy that is not readily identifiable, but there, nevertheless.
Cyrrit: Cyrrit are omnivorous forest-dwelling creatures that somewhat resemble ferrets or foxes. They stand between 2 1/2 and 3 feet high when fully grown, and weigh between 50-100 pounds. Pups are born in litters of 1 to 6 individuals. Adult males have a furry ruff around their neck, while adult females have pointed, curving ears. They tend to be quiet and shy, but enjoy the company of those they trust, and usually live in groups. Of course, there are always exceptions, and I've known some rather vicious Cyrrit.
Octopuss: Octopusses are not the aquatic creatures most people are used to. They actually are very like housecats, except that they posess eight legs and eight tails. Like housecats, their personalities vary widely. There are no obvious differences between genders, except that the females tend to have the longer eyelashes, presumably for the purpose of attracting a mate. They are the size of your average housecat, generally, and usually have litters of 1-8 kittens.
Puffkin: Puffkins resemble wooly hamsters of unusual size. They weigh about 12 pounds, and stand one foot high on average. Their fur is very soft, long and thick, and can be harvested and spun into yarn. They especially appreciate this during the summer months, when they tend to overheat if not sheared. Again, there are no obvious differences between genders, except that the females tend to have the longer eyelashes, presumably for the purpose of attracting a mate. Their litters usually range in number from 1-4, surprisingly small for such an animal.
Other Creatures: I have only come across two other species in my time here. One is the strange, large predetor the little animals are afraid of. It resembles a huge wolf with razor sharp claws on all four feet, plus a blade on the end of its tail. Luckily, they seem skittish, and wary of animals much larger than their usual prey. If I ever aquire one, I may adopt it to an able-seeming person, if anyone is interested.
This document contains information on The Shadowlands and the creatures that inhabit it. I hope it will be of some use.
-Silhouette
New species are continously appearing and disappearing. Recently, a new species of predetor has entered the Shadowlands, threatening several smaller species with extinction. These smaller species, therefore, wish to relocate to new places, outside the shadowlands, so I(Silhouette) am here to help them find good homes.
The other animal I've come across is a very strange one. I call it a Nightmare. It resembles a wild, windblown horse, and for some reason, I've only ever seen females. Perhaps Night Stallions are very rare. I know very little about them, because they are able to dematerialize at will. If I ever find one that wishes to leave the Shadowlands, however, I feel confident that someone will be able to provide it with a good home.
